Utility systems can be an opportunity to celebrate a city’s identity but also a means to integrate art into everyday life. The collection considers the creative potential of utility markings within public space—questioning the common perception of these objects as ugly nuisances.

The title “(wo)man holes” challenges the conventional language associated with utility systems, and by extension— the construction industry. Pink is employed to “feminize” the male-dominated space of public utilities.
