Bayou As:Community won second place in Greening the Industrial City competition.
The project builds on the synergy of the Calumet Connect Initiative, which aims to unite stakeholders in shaping the future of the Calumet River region, including residents, businesses, and community organizations. This includes the Land use Study for the Calumet Industrial Corridor and the environmental assessment of the Schroud Property Superfund site. The primary goal of these projects is to bring revitalization to the Calumet Region through redevelopment that addresses the harms of the past and injustices that residents have been subjected to as a result of historically racist and corrupt zoning and land use practices.
